Homedecor This Might Seem Nerdy, But The Idea Of Making My Own Cot Mobile Was Really Exciting To Me (I Really Should Get Out More). This Took A While As There Was Lots Of Hand Sching

This might seem nerdy, but the idea of making my own cot mobile was really exciting to me (I really should get out more). This took a while as there was lots of hand stitching involved, but I love the end result. Sticking to my woodland theme, I decided to make stuffed mountains, clouds and wolves in black and white. You can make a non-musical Mobile from scratch using an embroidery hoop, but I wanted my mobile to play lullabies so I picked up a really cheap one for $20. Alternatively you could get a second hand one from friends or family if they don't mind you pulling it apart I picked up some scraps of fabric from my local Spotlight store for about $5 and I used some leftover scraps from the pillows I made. You'll also need some filling/wadding which you can pick up from a fabric or craft store for a few dollars 1. If the mobile is covered in fabric already, cut it off 2. Make a cardboard stencil for your trickier peices 3. Trace stencil onto fabric and cut. Remember to make your peices a little bigger to account for seam allowance. 3. With right sides together, stitch the edges of your peices by hand or machine and leave an opening to stuff with wadding. Snip curved edges up to, but not through, the seam and turn inside out 4. After stuffing, hand stitch the openings closed 5. Cut strips of fabric to fit over the base and legs of your mobile and hand stitch them down 6. Use fishing wire or layers of very strong thread (to ensure it doesn't snap) and weave the peices through to hang 7. Attach the wire/thread to the legs of the mobile And that's it It's a bit of effort, but well worth having your own, personalised mobile for your bub. #woodland #woodlandnursery #sewing
